As most of you all know, leaving your pieces in open air for long periods of time will have them tarnishing in no time! There are several products on the market including tarnish free jewelry boxes and silver anti-tarnish pouches, that slow down the process immensely. If you own many pieces of silver, I feel they are well worth the investment. The next best thing is to store your pieces in sealed plastic sandwich bags until you are ready to wear them.
All silver components in my designs have been machine tumbled for adding strength and durability, in addition to polishing and giving a luminous shine. You can restore shine to your pieces by re-tumbling. This pertains to my sterling silver chainmaille pieces only.
For other pieces, you have a few options: If your piece contains pearls, porous stones, or Mystic Topaz, please do not tumble or use liquid jewelry cleaners as they cannot with stand the abrasiveness and will remove their natural finish. Use a silver polishing cloth or a mild liquid detergent with warm water is safe for most items and will remove light dirt.
Some of my pieces have been oxidized to give a darkened, antiqued or rainbow patina. If you see "oxidized" or "patina" in my product description, only use a silver polishing cloth. Do not use liquid jewelry cleaner as this will remove this oxidation and return the piece to it's original shiny state.
